This digital painting entitled “Purple Tube” was created with ArtRage 4 .This is an app that came pre-installed with my Sony VAIO Laptop. Has anyone used it? It is quite impressive!
I might have made “Purple Tube” just experimenting for about thirty or so minutes and I was quite impressed by how easy it was to use! I must let you know though that the menu system was a bit of a struggle at first until I got used to it which was not a long time anyway. What I really appreciated about the experience was how realistic the process of painting felt – from the way colors seemed to blend as if I was using real brushes and palette knives and real oil paint. I actually used ArtRage for the first time when I made an illustration which my mom used as cover for her personalized Christmas cards. Indeed, painting was such a delightful experience with it.
What is ArtRage 4?
ArtRage is a digital painting app that mimics real-life art techniques. It gives you “real life painting tools on your computer in a stylish, easy to use environment that lets you get down to the process of creating without digital distractions” as the app description says on the artrage website. It’s like a mini artsy Photoshop at a fraction of the cost.
The full software sells for $49 while the mobile apps range from $1.99 to $4.99. My laptop came pre-installed with ArtRage 3 and it offered to an upgrade to ArtRage 4 for 50% off the full software price so it was not a bad deal at all. If your computer came pre-installed with an earlier version, I highly recommend upgrading to the latest update because the updates alone are worth it.
Everybody who is interested in visual art, whether simply sketching doodling stick figures or making a full digital Picasso, should try ArtRage! Who knows what kind of masterpiece you can come up with in the future!
