Here is an Auld Lang Syne Improvisation on the keyboard which I recorded a few years back.
Auld Lang Syne is a traditional Scottish tune used to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new.
Every New Year’s Eve, I would be LSS-ing (Last Song Syndrome) on this tune up to a week, never being able to take it off my mind. It is a beautiful, catchy tune but becomes a burden if that’s all you sing in your head for a whole week.
The lyrics is a Scots-language poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 but based on an older Scottish folk song. In 1799, it was set to a traditional tune, which has since become standard. For those who do not know, here are the words to Auld Lang Syne:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and auld lang syne?
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup
and surely I’ll buy mine!
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We two have run about the hills
and picked the daisies fine,
