Bayanihan Arts and Events Center sa Florida

I just found this video on youtube.com about the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc.’s “Philfest” and the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center. It’s a television program called PinasWatch I think by TFC. I find it interesting although they could have focused less on my tummy and more on the playing. 🙂 I remember this being filmed during PhilFest in 2008. It has been that long and up to now there have only been 25 views on youtube? Kawawa naman kami! Anyway, here’s the link to the video:

Bisperas ng Pasko (Opening)

Opening scene of “Bisperas ng Pasko”, a musical play I composed as written by Edna Mae Landicho for Dulaang-UP and UP Concert Chorus in 1995. This is actually a Tagalog adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.

Andante for Strings

An old composition which I revived with the Eastwest Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold XP using the strings sections only. I guess virtual musical instruments have reached a degree of realism that can now compare with live acoustic instruments. It’s amazing and such a joy to play with!

Sa Kabukiran Medley for Angklung and Orchestra

A medley of two popular Filipino classic tunes, “Sa Libis ng Nayon” (Santiago Suarez) and “Sa Kabukiran” (Manuel Velez). Originally arranged for 2 sopranos and piano for my college music arranging class, this arrangement has been translated into full choir arrangement for the UP Concert Chorus and orchestral with soloists for the Philippine Opera Company. This version is for angklung ensemble and orchestra accompaniment.

Giliw Ko

“Giliw Ko” (Beloved) is one of my early compositions using light versions of samples made for Gigastudio like GOS Lite, Westgate Woodwinds, Sam Horns and the Art Vista Malmjo piano.

Manggang Hilaw

One of my early arrangements (early works, as Menoy would say) sung by the 1990 batch of the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus (UPCC) I just found this at youtube. Si Egay ba nag-upload? Anyway, this clip had Sir Paguio saying the intro, with his usual wit, one which I never acquired.

Nhick at gigsalad.com

I just joined gigsalad.com today. This a site if you want to “find and hire entertainers and event professionals for parties, weddings, productions, corporate events and more”. It seems like a promising site: membership fees range from free to premium ($19.99 a month).

Barong Tagalog

Just found this on youtube – it’s my arrangement of “Manggang Hilaw” for the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, batch 1990. It’s quite a crude video and the audio is only on the left channel but I feel a lot of nostalgia finding this. Introduction by the late Prof. Rey T. Paguio. Only he could pull a sense of humor like that!
