The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. presents “Arte”, an exhibit of various art forms by Filipino-American artists in the Tampa Bay Area at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This exhibit will encompass various fields of art including painting, jewelry design, photography, fashion design, doll-making, flower-arranging and food art.

It feels like it has been a year since I participated in the Florida Orchestra’s “Celebrate Delius” week in January, 2012 by singing tenor at the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. The performance of Frederick Delius’ “Appalachia” and “Sea Drift” at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida was conducted by Stefan Sanderling with guest baritone Leon Williams.

Gear Up for PhilFest 2013!

Here’s looking forward to PhilFest 2013! The three day Filipino festival by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) will be held from Friday to Sunday, April 5-7, 2013 at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex and the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626. After another successful festival in 2012, expect a bigger, more expansive PhilFest 2013 with non-stop entertainment, food, exhibits and much more!

My parents came down to Florida to visit me and to watch “Ana Maria” which I directed. It was indeed a pleasure and a relief to see them! During one of the zarzuela rehearsals at home, they prepared a complete Ilocano dinner for us: inabraw, igado, and pinakbet, among others. We also had ube cake which my sister, Marie, baked and sent all the way from Illinois.

I just found this wonderful pianist, Alexei Sultanov, with his renditions of Chopin Etudes Op.25 No.5, 6; Op.10 No.12 during the 1995 13th international Frederick Chopin Piano Competition which won him the second prize. What a wonderful pianist he is and bless youtube for the video’s availability!
