It feels like it has been a year since I participated in the Florida Orchestra’s “Celebrate Delius” week in January, 2012 by singing tenor at the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. These are photos I took of the Sampaguita Ball 2012 hall setup at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa FL 33626. The ball is an annual charity fundraising event by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. for its various cultural programs.
My parents came down to Florida to visit me and to watch “Ana Maria” which I directed. It was indeed a pleasure and a relief to see them! During one of the zarzuela rehearsals at home, they prepared a complete Ilocano dinner for us: inabraw, igado, and pinakbet, among others. We also had ube cake which my sister, Marie, baked and sent all the way from Illinois.
I just found this wonderful pianist, Alexei Sultanov, with his renditions of Chopin Etudes Op.25 No.5, 6; Op.10 No.12 during the 1995 13th international Frederick Chopin Piano Competition which won him the second prize. What a wonderful pianist he is and bless youtube for the video’s availability!
It has been there for a while but I never mentioned it – I actually have atwitter account! To subscribe or to follow my tweets, go to http://twitter.com/#!/nhickp !
