Brent Taghap, violinist, playing “Filipino Folk Songs Medley” with me on the piano. This was performed in Kissimmee, FL last June.
Choral arrangement of Yoyo’s Villame’s fun song, “Butsekik” sung by the Voice of Cebu (VOX) Chorale & UB Bel Canto Singers. I originally wrote this for UPCC but the piece found its way through other choruses in the Philippines. VOX added some twists to it which I find very amusing indeed – I like it a lot!
Arrangement of “Mabuhay Ka Pilipino” as sung by different choirs. I wrote this arrangement as a commissioned piece by the Development Bank of the Philippines way back in the 90’s. The following youtube video is by the Himig Singers in a performance at St. Brendan’s Church, Los Angeles. For more information about the group, go to http://himigsingers.org . I think they are a superb choir!
I’ve been attempting to upload this video to facebook all night and for some reason it wasn’t happening. It was Vic’s birthday until 3 minutes ago in Manila so this …
Opening scene of “Bisperas ng Pasko”, a musical play I composed as written by Edna Mae Landicho for Dulaang-UP and UP Concert Chorus in 1995. This is actually a Tagalog adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”.
An old composition which I revived with the Eastwest Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold XP using the strings sections only. I guess virtual musical instruments have reached a degree of realism that can now compare with live acoustic instruments. It’s amazing and such a joy to play with!
A medley of two popular Filipino classic tunes, “Sa Libis ng Nayon” (Santiago Suarez) and “Sa Kabukiran” (Manuel Velez). Originally arranged for 2 sopranos and piano for my college music arranging class, this arrangement has been translated into full choir arrangement for the UP Concert Chorus and orchestral with soloists for the Philippine Opera Company. This version is for angklung ensemble and orchestra accompaniment.
“Giliw Ko” (Beloved) is one of my early compositions using light versions of samples made for Gigastudio like GOS Lite, Westgate Woodwinds, Sam Horns and the Art Vista Malmjo piano.
