Here’s looking forward to PhilFest 2013! The three day Filipino festival by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) will be held from Friday to Sunday, April 5-7, 2013 at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex and the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626. After another successful festival in 2012, expect a bigger, more expansive PhilFest 2013 with non-stop entertainment, food, exhibits and much more!
PhilFest 2012 was made successful by the extensive participation of the Filipino-American community in the Tampa Bay Area, including the involvement of the Philippine’s top television giants, ABS-CBN and GMA TV which presented pop stars Jay-R, Sheryn Regis among others. The festival also featured special events like “Mrs. PhilFest”, “Tawag ng Tanghalan”, “Tanghalang Pambata”, “Revolution”, “Yugyugan” and “Flores de PhilFest”. At the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center, the Philippine Consulate also extended its services through the “Consulate-on-Wheels” program while PCFI presented “Kasalan”, a cultural exhibit about weddings in the Philippines, and “Ana Maria”, a Filipino zarzuela. Entertainment was non-stop in all of the key venues of the festival with the participation of PCFI’s cultural groups, Philippine Performing Arts COmpany, Inc., Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble and the Philippine Choral Group as well as hundreds of volunteer entertainers from all over Florida including some performers from Texas. At the same time, Filipino vendors provided food and refreshments as well as Filipino-made crafts and other services.
PhilFest 2013 is chaired by PCFI board member and vice chairman Lucy Bautista. She will be leading the festival preparations with the help of PCFI’s member organizations as well as individual volunteers.
