So I attended Eric Whitacre’s one-day workshop, “Soaring Leap” at the University of Tampa’s Fletcher Lounge last Wednesday, January 11, 2012 and I had such a great time. The workshop was attended by around 100-120 people, more or less – choir singers, teachers, composers and hobbyists.
We sang some of Mr. Whitacre’s compositions like “Sleep”, “The Seal Lullaby” (which I really really loved), songs from “Five Hebrew Love Songs”, “A Boy and a Girl” (absolutely brilliant), “Animal Crackers” (from both volumes) and “I Walked the Boulevard”. I had “Lux Aurumque” in my packet but I don’t know if they sang it because I came in late. In between the songs were a lot of discussions and q&a’s that were really very informative and made me think about my own voyage as a composer.
Well, here are some photos I took from the event:
Thank you, Eric!
Oh, by the way, University of Tampa was such a gorgeous venue. Fletcher Lounge was a perfect choral space! Have a look of the photos I took around the university.
