If you have nothing else to do on Sundays, the Thai Temple in Tampa, Florida called the Wat Mongkolratanaram is a hidden paradise that you might want to check out. This is a Thai Buddhist temple. It’s not that you should attend services if you’re a Buddhist but they have a food fest held every Sunday where you can eat all the Thai food you can eat at really cheap prices. What’s more striking is the Temple that was built within the community property. It’s like all of a sudden you’re not in the United States anymore! At certain parts of the day, there are Buddhist services in the temple. You are allowed to look inside. Just remember to leave your shoes by the entrance steps and be quiet. Just be respectful ways and traditions of other cultures.
Aside from food and the magnificent Thai Temple, you can also shop for handicrafts, orchids and fresh vegetables by the riverfront. I heard that all proceeds from the Sunday market go to the temple funds so you won’t be spending for a lost cause. The place is located right at the bank of the Hillsborough River which makes the scenery more alluring.
I have taken some photos of the Thai Temple and I keep on taking photos every time I go there. I’ve been there more than four times last year and I have never felt like I was wasting time at all. This was better than doing my usual Sunday afternoon laundry chores.
Don’t miss out on this very unique place in Tampa. The Thai Temple will really transport you to a completely different world!
