110601 – I saw Villa Escudero for the first time in June, 2011 when my brother took me for lunch on our way to Batangas. At first sight, I fell in love with the place – the rustic views, good food in one-of-a-kind restaurant and the service was impeccable!
Villa Escudero is located along the outskirts of San Pablo City, south of Manila through a two-hour drive through the countryside. It was (and still is) a coconut plantation owned by Don Placido Escudero, a famous Filipino agro-industrialist back in the 1880’s. The plantation, having its own hydro-electric power is a self-contained community and is now a major tourist destination in the area. It has it’s own waterfalls restaurant, community shows, tours (via carabao ride, complete with folk singers), museum, hotel and reception halls. The countryside was carefully preserved and the views are perfect.
I can’t wait to see this wonderful place again in the future! Every Filipino should see this!
With magnificent view of the surrounding mountains.
I should have tried the bamboo rafts!
Kulintang at the outdoor theater.
Even the carabaos are happy and healthy!
At the Villa Escudero visitor’s welcome hut.
Mode of transportation inside Villa Escudero. It comes with a singer and a guitarist.
Lunch at the old powerplant dam or something. The food was aezquisite and there is nothing like having lunch on the water.
Never seen any chandeliers like this.
