Now celebrating 25 years, the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc.’s PhilFest 2020 will be a much bigger Philippine Festival in Tampa, Florida from April 3 to 5, 2020!
PhilFest is a three-day festival about Philippine culture – food, entertainment, merchandise that started as a simple community event twenty five years ago. Today, the festival has grown into a major celebration in the Tampa Bay Area, attracting as much as 15,000 visitors to the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex (which houses the PhilFest Village and the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center) every year and growing.
What to do at PhilFest 2020
One will find a variety of interesting Filipino food and merchandise offered by various Filipino-American vendors from the Tampa Bay Area. You want carioca? Pancit? Lechon? Halo-halo? They are all available at food vendor booths all around the festival area!
Non-stop entertainment by volunteer Filipino-American artists as well as showbiz personalities from the Philippines also grace the festival stage named Sinagtala Theater. Games and competitions are offered to the public – “Tawag ng Tanghalan” singing competition for adults, “Revolution” hip-hop dancing competition for the youth, “Tanghalang Pambata” talent competition for children. An inter-organization street dancing called “Yugyugan” will also show groups in various ethnic costumes dancing around the festival grounds. “Flores de PhilFest” will also showcase muses in a grand parade, reminiscent of Flores de Mayo in the Philippines. The search for “Miss/Mrs. PhilFest” also mobilizes PCFI member organizations as they raise funds for the next PhilFest muse.
An exhibit of Philippine Culture will also be showcased at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center.
